HULL: Planning committee councillors have called for a site visit before making a decision on plans to convert a part of an old city centre dance hall into apartments.
The scheme involves the first floor of the hall, which was once part of the neighbouring Young People's Institute complex in George Street.
As the hall is a listed building because of its historic importance, special permission is required for any major alternation work.
The proposed scheme by Lakeland Properties Ltd is seeking to convert the first floor of the building into ten self-contained apartments.
Councillors are expected to carry out the site visit ahead of next month's planning committee.

They come into force from Monday, June 24.
Access to properties affected by the closure will be maintained for both motorists and pedestrians. An alternative route via Hessle- skew Lane will be signposted during the work.
