A BURGLAR who targeted the homes of three of his relatives and friends has been jailed.
Joshua Green, 22, burgled the home of his friend in Bransholme, the third time he had committed a burglary at the home of someone he knew.
Samantha Tomlinson left her home in Roborough Close, Branshome, locked and secure on May 7.
When she returned to the house with her cousin Danny Newlove, he realised her downstairs window was open and partially broken.
Miss Tomlinson discovered her PlayStation 3 and three computer games, worth £200, had been stolen.
Her cousin claimed Green, of Gatwick House, Bransholme, was responsible and Green admitted his guilt during his police interview after he was arrested.
Green pleaded guilty at Hull Magistrates' Court to burglary and the case was sent to Hull Crown Court for him to be sentenced.
Green has previously been jailed for burglaries, possessing amphetamines and thefts.
His barrister Paul Genney said: "He has had a wretched upbringing.
"In the first burglary on his record, it was against his mother who had thrown him out. He then went back and burgled her.
"The exact same thing happened four years later when he was living with his grandfather. He was ejected and did exactly the same thing again.
"The general public have not been particularly inconvenienced or caused a great deal of trauma by his offending."
When offenders have committed three burglaries, they are subjected to a three-year minimum sentence.
However, Green has been given credit for his guilty plea and given a discount on the minimum term.
The honorary Recorder of Hull and the East Riding Judge Michael Mettyear sent him to prison for two years and 146 days.
He told Green: "This was mean because it was someone you knew.
"You have a poor record. It is an absolutely disgraceful record.
"The good thing is you pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
"You must have known, I'm sure, that you would be liable for the three-year minimum sentence. I will give you the maximum discount possible."
