POLICE are trying to piece together how a man came to be fighting for his life after walking into hospital, claiming he had been run over.
The man, 57, walked into Hull Royal Infirmary and told staff he had been hit by a car and that he went over the bonnet.
He was initially admitted for non-life threatening injuries but his condition has since deteriorated and he is now at Castle Hill in a medically-induced coma.
The man had been injured between 9am and 10am on Saturday May 25.
Inspector Paul Sergeant is investigating the case. He said: "We need people to come forward who may have seen something that could have resulted in a man, matching his description, sustain some form of injury.
"It might have been a road traffic collision, he might have been assaulted but also it is just as feasible that he could have fallen over."
The police are looking at three locations at Castle Street, close to Smith & Nephew, Carr Lane in the city centre and Anlaby Road, close to Hull Royal Infirmary.
Call Police on 101 with any information.
