Ambitious proposals to create at least 7,500 new jobs in Hull over the next decade have been officially unveiled today.
The City Plan aims to support different ways of improving the city's economy, from attracting new investment and boosting tourism to improving health and reducing household energy bills.
Speaking at a launch event, Hull High Steward Lord Mandelson said: "The City Plan is not something that will be achieved overnight but is what can be invested in and achieved during the coming decade.
"It will only happen by everyone working closely together. This was the message in Lord Heseltine's recent report and I have no doubt that Michael will recognise the value and potential of Hull's City Plan to become an exemplar of its kind.
"We are talking here of a very different future for Hull and its hinterlands. It's an opportunity we all need to seize with a real sense of urgency."
Tim Rix, who chairs the City Leadership Board overseeing the City Plan launched at the University of Hull, said: "I believe these are exciting times for the city and hopefully this plan will deliver the maximum benefits possible over the next ten years. It's a big plan with big ideas."
Mr Rix said the challenge was now getting everyone involved in its delivery, from businesses to ordinary people.
"It's about putting Hull on the international map," he said.
