A CHAMPION ballroom dancer is flying in from Italy for a performance in east Hull.
Paolo Bosco, who has links to dancers in the region, will appear at the A Ward School of Dance next month with partner Joanne Clifton.
The six-time professional world ballroom champions will help to host a summer ball on Saturday, July 6.
Annette Ward, who runs the school with her husband Alan, said it is the biggest event the school has ever organised.
She said: "We hold a summer ball every year, but nothing on this scale.
"Now we have a bigger premises, we can invite more people to join us.
"Hopefully, we'll get about 150 people through the door."
The school was established about 30 years ago and was based above Kwik Save in Holderness Road.
The owners decided it was time to move on after the store closed down but now they have returned to the road, taking over the former Green Man pub.
Annette said: "I've seen Paolo in competitions and he's incredibly fast and very entertaining and Joanne is a lifelong friend of ours.
"At the age of three, our daughter Amy went to her first competition, which was run by Joanne's dad.
"She's a brilliant performer and this is such an intimate show, people would have to travel a long way to see anything like it.
"There are dance demonstrations in theatres in Hull but this is a lot more personal and people will be able to ask them questions."
The demonstration will include waltz, foxtrot, quick step and Viennese waltz, among others and could last up to an hour.
Paolo has waived his fee for the east Hull event and Annette said it's a "huge deal" for dance fans.
"We also have a licensed bar at the venue and there will be dancing throughout the night, with ballroom, Latin and sequence routines," she said.
"People may not be as good as Paolo but he will inspire them to learn more."
Doors for the event open at 7.30pm and the show starts at about 8pm.
Tickets cost £15, and are available by calling 01482 811070, or visiting the studio during opening hours.
