HULL: Residents are being urged to head to the Marina this weekend to support Hull's entry into the P1 Superstock Powerboat racing.
Crew Jono Searby, director of JS Power Limited, and Sam Whitaker, chief executive of Esteem, the consortium delivering the majority of Hull's £400m new schools, will be racing One Hull Of A Boat against other teams from around the country.
The boat was bought after businesses across the city pledged sponsorship.
It is hoped it will raise the profile of Hull, which has hosted one of the UK legs of the World Championships for the past three years.
It is hoped One Hull Of A Boat will get more people out to watch the racing.
As well as the powerboat races there will also be jet ski races.
The best place to watch the powerboat races will be at Mr Chu on St Andrew's Quay and the best place for the jet ski races will be on the Pier.
Mr Chu has hired a small fairground for those who want to watch the races from St Andrew's Quay and The Minerva's beer festival is taking place on the Pier.
The powerboat race will run from 1pm to 1.30pm today and from 12.30pm tomorrow, when there will be two further races.
