BOARD member Phil Lowe says no other coach in Super League could be brought to Hull KR and guaranteed to bring better results.
Lowe was one of the men who came out and publicly backed Craig Sandercock as his position came under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks.
He pledged to use his position on the board to ensure Sandercock was offered the option of staying on, and with that offer now on the table, he hopes the Aussie stays.
"I'm very pleased the club has offered him a new deal as I believe he deserves another year to get things right," Lowe told the Mail.
"Craig has had a tough job over the past two years, but I believe he has done what was asked of him.
"He has blooded around 10 youngsters into the first team over his first two years, and in that sense he has done exactly what we asked him to do.
"Unfortunately, he has been very unlucky with injuries to senior players, last season and this, which has meant these kids have been playing week after week.
"When you are bringing young kids into the side, you want to break them in gradually. You can't expect them to handle first-grade rugby every week, but Craig has been forced to.
"Look at Nathan Brown at St Helens.
"He lost some senior stars and although he was considered the top coach in the game, he has struggled.
"The same has happened at Leeds and Warrington when a number of stars have been out.
"I can't think of a coach who would come in and do better, as you are only as good as your players, so that is something the club has to look at for next season."
Although keen to back Sandercock, Lowe admits he should stand and fall by his record come 12 months' time.
"That is when we can judge him," he said.
"It is only right that he has another season.
"This has been the first with his squad, and with a few more of his own players next season, he can be judged fairly on his results."
