POLICE are still battling to find out how two men were found dead in the water in Bridlington and Hull.
Investigators are treating the deaths of both men in two days as unexplained but not suspicious.
On Tuesday morning, a 50-year-old man, yet to be named, was pulled out of Hull Marina.
In Bridlington, another man in his 50s was pulled from the harbour on Wednesday morning.
Bridlington Harbour superintendent Lawrence Porter said a member of the harbour staff had spotted the body.
"One of my colleagues shouted to me and I rode across," he said.
"Initially I couldn't tell if it was male or female. I helped to pull him out.
"I wanted to get him out as quickly as possible as it was about 7.30am and a lot of people would be walking past soon."
The death of the man is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are continuing.
"We are not sure what happened. We had a look on the CCTV and there was nothing on there," said Mr Porter, who has been working at the harbour for ten years.
"It is very unlikely he will have fallen from outside the harbour and been swept into the harbour.
"It was an unfortunate accident by the looks of it but someone will be getting a knock at the door saying a family member has died."
A police spokesman said they received a call from a member of the public at 7.34am reporting that a body had been seen floating in the water in the harbour. She said: "The coastguard located the body and waited for the police to arrive.
"Police attended and removed the body from the water at 7.59am.
"The body recovered was that of a man in his 50s, 5ft 10in, of slim build with cropped grey hair and a beard. The man has been identified however the police have not yet been able to contact the next of kin.
"The cause of death is unexplained but not thought to be suspicious."
In Hull, the alarm was raised by a member of the public who alerted the marina's lock keeper.
A police spokesman said: "The cause of the man's death has yet to be established but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
"The coroner has been informed and a post mortem is due to take place in the next few days.
"A file will be prepared for the coroner for a future inquest into the death."
Drownings in the marina are rare but this is not the first time a body has been pulled out of its waters.
A 40-year-old man died in 2008 after jumping in with two friends, one of whom suffered serious head injuries.
At the time, the actions of PC Gareth Walker, PC Allan Cowley and members of the public helped prevent further fatalities.
Anyone with information on either case should call 101.
