THEY are often referred to as being man's best friend.
Now, these four-legged football fans are proving their loyalty to Hull City – by donning the black and amber colours of the promotion-winning team.
Tigers fans around the world have been dressing up their dogs in football shirts, scarves and collars to celebrate the club's promotion to the Premier League.
Ash Lord, communications manager at Hull City, is among dozens of people to have sent in photos of their well-dressed mutts to the club's online fanzine Amber Nectar.
Ash, who dressed his nine-month-old Westie Rory in a Tigers shirt, said: "I had seen some of the photos on the fanzine and thought they were absolutely incredible.
"I just couldn't help myself – I had to post one of Rory."
The Tigers secured promotion on Saturday after a nail-biting afternoon.
Thousands of fans then flocked to the KC Stadium on Wednesday to celebrate, with players, manager Steve Bruce and owners Assem and Ehab Allam taking to the field to salute the crowd.
Ash said the fans' reactions to the club's promotion had been "truly fantastic".
He said: "The whole city has really got involved in the celebrations.
"The promotion party on Wednesday went very well and we really appreciated the fans' support.
"I'm sure the Tigers' success will never be forgotten."
Supporter Andrew Auld, 25, sent in a photo of his "football-mad" pooch to the fanzine.
He dressed his two-year-old Weimaraner Skye in a black and amber scarf.
Andrew, of Goole, said: "I dressed up Skye for a laugh, really.
"She always listens to the football with me and I even leave the radio on for her when I'm at work.
"She is a massive Hull City fan."
Andrew said the club's final game of the season had been "unbelievable".
He said: "I was watching in the stands and had never seen a game like it.
"The atmosphere was really tense, but so exciting.
"It will definitely go down as a huge moment in the city's history."
Amber Nectar said it had received dozens of photos of four-legged fans, including mutts from Norway, New Zealand and Australia.
Andy Dalton, owner of the fanzine, said: "We have received photos of various dog species from all over the world.
"Fans have really engaged with the idea as a way of celebrating Hull City's promotion."
And dogs were not the only ones to show their support for the Tigers, with cats and even a sheep joining in the fun by sporting the side's black and amber colours.
