CIVIC leaders have praised Hull City for achieving promotion to football's top flight after a "rollercoaster ride" on the final day of the season.
Hull City Council leader, Councillor Steve Brady, said: "The match had so many ups and downs. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. You felt as though everybody was kicking the ball at once in the stadium.
"Being back in the Premier League gets us seen around the world and will draw in more visitors to the city for our home matches.
"The real praise goes to Mr Allam. He has made a lot of people's dreams come true.
"This is the start of some really good announcements in the city this year.
"Having Hull back in the Premier League will help the city's economy."
The Tigers, who only achieved top-flight football for the first time in their history in 2008, return to the Premier League after being relegated in 2010.

Among those cheering them to promotion this season was long-time fan Councillor Stephen Parnaby, leader of East Riding Council. He said: "It has been an exciting season and I'm delighted with everybody involved in the club and really delighted with the Allams.
"Without them, we would probably not have a football team. They have shown a lot of faith in the club."
As a black and amber fan, Cllr Parnaby admits he never thought automatic promotion would be a possibility this season.
He said: "I was always hopeful we might go up this season, but I never thought it would be automatic."
