HUNDREDS of people are expected in Hornsea this weekend to celebrate the life of a popular teenager who died from a rare heart condition.
The memorial football match and family fun day takes place on Sunday, days after Josh Fell would have celebrated his 17th birthday.
After more than 500 people packed onto Hornsea's Recreation Club last year, this weekend visitors are being asked to park at the secondary school.
Among the events taking place at the club, a team of Josh's friends will be taking on a team of ex-Hull City stars, set to include Ian Ashbee and Dean Windass.
Josh's father Rich said: "We are all looking forward to it.
"It was the nearest date we could get to what would have been Josh's 17th birthday, so it will be very emotional.
"Last year's event far exceeded our expectations. For a first event we couldn't believe how many people turned up.
"With more ex-City players, we are hoping this year's event will be even more popular.
"We haven't set any targets as to how much money we'd like to raise. Anything we do will be a bonus."
Josh suffered from Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome and collapsed and died after a game of football on Hornsea School's playing fields in June 2011.
Since his death, friends and family of Josh have raised more than £40,000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (Cry). The money has been put towards heart screenings in the town.
Among those attending the fundraiser is John Freer, of Bilton, who will be running from his home to Hornsea – a distance of 14 miles.
"I'm looking forward to it," he said. "It is a really good charity.
"I was told 20 years ago not to run or play football because of a problem with my knee.
"Since then, I have run thousands of miles."
The event takes place at Hornsea Recreation Club from 10am to 4pm. The football match kicks off at 11am. There will be an auction, which includes signed Hull City shirts and a performance by the All For One Choir at 1.30pm. The choir recently performed at Hull City Hall with a group of Josh's school friends.
Entry costs £1 for adults and 50p for children.
