A teenager is being questioned by police after the death of a woman at an address in east Hull.
The woman, in her 70s, and a man, in his 80s, were found seriously injured at the home in Summergangs Road at around 3.30am.
The woman died at the scene at the man was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as serious but stable.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested in the city centre, close to Primark on Carr Lane, and is currently being questioned by police.
Officers believe the boy was known to the victims.
The investigation is in its early stages and police have released no details relating to how the man and woman came by their injuries.
A post-mortem on the woman is currently being carried out.
Police remain at the address in Summergangs Road and the victims' family are being supported by specially trained police officers.
