Crime down by 14 per cent across Hull and East Riding

Crime across the area has fallen by 14 per cent, according to new figures published today.
Home Office statistic show that compared to 2011, crime in the Humberside Police area dropped 14 per cent in 2012. 
This means 10,000 less people became a victim of crime.
The drop is larger than the national average reduction of 8 per cent.
Other areas of crime also reduced more than the national average including violence against the person with injury (down 10 per cent), dwelling burglary (down 15 per cent), crimes involving vehicles – which includes theft of motor vehicle, theft from a vehicle, aggravated vehicle taking and interfering with a motor vehicle (down 18 per cent) and criminal damage (down 20 per cent).
Robbery increased by 1 per cent, which equates to five extra crimes compared to 2011.
Crime is also down 7 per cent for the first three months of 2013.Humberside Police Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Donald said: "Once again it is pleasing to see that overall recorded crime in Humberside is down and significantly more so than the national average along with reductions in the other crime areas.
"This demonstrates the efforts being put in across the force by all officers and staff at a time of great uncertainty with budget cuts."The force is rising to the challenges that are being set for us and we will continue to strive to provide the best possible level of service to the communities we serve."Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside Matthew Grove said he was "encouraged" by the recent figures.
He added: "I want to thank all our officers, staff and volunteers for their efforts and I am confident that we have the right team in place to build on these successes."
