THE girlfriend of a cyclist who was killed at a busy roundabout has spoken of her anguish.
Peter Finch, 46, of west Hull, died from head injuries after he was hit by a Renault Clio at Derringham Bank roundabout on Easter Sunday.
His partner, Marie Tomlinson, 33, said: "I can't speak more highly of Peter than to say what a kind-hearted and loving person he was.
"There is nothing I didn't love about him and I know he felt the same way about me. Yes, when he called me 'our lass' it drove me mad, but what I would give to hear him say those two words to me again.
"His death has left me shocked and saddened and not a day goes by when I don't think about him and miss him. He loved me and he spoilt me rotten every day we were together."
The couple met seven years ago while they were both waiting for a train at Doncaster train station.
Six months later, Mr Finch moved to Hull from his hometown of Doncaster to be with Miss Tomlinson.
She said: "I know it sounds like something from a book but this was really how we met. I was waiting for a train to Hull and he was going to Thorne.
"We sat together on the train and never stopped talking, we swapped numbers and six months later he moved to Hull to be with me."
The couple moved into a new home together in December, which had what Mr Finch called the "garden of his dreams".
Miss Tomlinson said: "For Peter, it was all about his bike and the outdoors. He had a love for gardening, but nothing made him happier than when he was off somewhere on his bicycle.
"I had never ridden a bicycle until we met and we actually both went to Doncaster to get myself a bicycle and brought it back on the train.
"We used to go everywhere on them, even to do the big food shop but I would make him carry the heavy stuff. Burton Constable was our favourite place to go together."
The 29-year-old driver of the Clio was arrested after the accident, which happened at 4pm.
He was released on bail pending further enquiries.
Miss Tomlinson thanked members of the public who stopped to help Mr Finch after the accident at the roundabout where Willerby Road and Spring Bank West meet.
She said: "I know a lot of people may have seen what happened on that day and people did stop to help him. I really want to thank those people for doing all they could to help Peter.
"I would also like to ask people, if you did stop at the scene and have not yet spoken to police then please come forward and tell them what you know.
"Myself and the family and friends of Peter want closure on this and by helping the police you will be helping us."
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the accident to call 101, quoting log 430, of March 31.
