AHMED Elmohamady has been crowned Hull City's 2012-13 Player of the Season to cap a brilliant loan spell at the KC.

The Egyptian international picked up the coveted prize at the club's awards night on Saturday, fending off competition from the likes of Stephen Quinn, winner of the Players' Player of the Year, popular defender James Chester and fans' favourite Paul McShane.

Elmohamady, who last month topped an online poll amongst Mail readers, has enjoyed a flawless campaign with the Tigers.

Since first arriving on-loan from Sunderland on the penultimate day of the August transfer window, the 25-year-old has played in 39 of the Tigers' 41 Championship games.

As well as scoring three goals reunited with former boss Steve Bruce, his nine assists from his right wing-back role have made him an invaluable figure in City's push for Premier League promotion.

Elmohamady will hope to conclude his loan spell with the Tigers by securing second spot with a win at Barnsley this weekend and, in the process, keep alive his prospects of joining City in a permanent deal.

An agreement is in place for Elmohamady to sign a long-term deal at the KC Stadium this summer if the Tigers can clinch promotion, but another season in the Championship would make the finances of the deal awkward.

It is the second time in three years that a loan player has won City's top prize. The 2010-11 season saw Anthony Gerrard, borrowed from Cardiff, scoop the accolade, before Robert Koren walked away with the honour 12 months ago.

There was special acclaim for Quinn, who won the vote of his team-mates.

Much like Elmohamady, the 27-year-old has enjoyed a vintage debut year with the Tigers since arriving from Sheffield United on a bargain deal.

The midfielder's 42 appearances have so far cost City just £84,000 in a structured deal but he has been an invaluable figure on the left of midfield, weighing in with three goals and five assists. Quinn's trademark energy and determination make him a hugely popular figure in the City dressing room.

Nick Proschwitz may have struggled to match the heroics of his fellow 2012 arrivals, but there was still cause for cheer when he collected the Goal of the Season award.

The German striker's magnificent volley in the FA Cup third round replay win over Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road was voted the Tigers' very best by fans.

Dougie Wilson, who made his senior debut in the FA Cup, was named City's Young Player of the Season, while there was also a prize for long-serving defender Andy Dawson.

To coincide with his testimonial year, Dawson was presented with the Special Contribution Award, recognising his efforts in 317 appearances over 10 seasons.
