FOUR points off a return to the Premier League, you'd expect the KC Stadium to be rocking tonight when Bristol City arrive.
Sadly, I'm not certain that's what we'll see because nothing I've seen this season indicates it will be any different.
On our travels this season we've been all over the country and I've seen the difference a rocking stadium can make.
At Port Vale recently there were 11,000 fans in the ground, but they honestly made enough noise to make it feel like 50,000 fans.
It was easy to see the impact that noise and support had on the Port Vale team, who went on to win 7-1 that night against Burton Albion.
At times this season the KC Stadium has been like a morgue, with the fans sitting down and waiting for a goal or an incident before getting involved and making any noise.
Personally, I feel it is a backlash of the last time the club were in the Premier League.
Lots of new fans came on board in those Premier League days and the ones that have stuck around don't seem to be bringing the same sort of noise we used to see the last time City were pushing for promotion to the top flight.
The atmosphere at the KC has definitely changed in recent years and for the sake of the Tigers it needs to get back to the raucous atmosphere it can be.
There is a weird feeling sometimes when you hear how quiet it is and you think about how close the team are to playing in the Premier League and getting promotion.
You honestly cannot underestimate how important a rocking stadium can be to a team.
With so much at stake, let's hope the stadium is close to full and the noise generated represents the numbers that are there.
