HULL City youth team manager Billy Russell hopes his side's league title can be part of a larger celebration for the club this season.
Russell's under-18s retained their Youth Alliance North East Conference title with a 4-0 win at Notts County.
Goals from Tom Davie (2), Eoghan McCawl and Joel Sutton helped seal the title for the young Tigers, who only needed a point to be crowned champions.
Russell's side wrapped up the title in the same stylish manner as they have played their football all season.
Success has never been far away from the squad for the last few months, and Russell hopes that continues for many years to come.
"Winning the league is a bonus for this group of boys," Russell told the Mail.
"The club is in a very good position with the first team second in the Championship.
"Winning the league is not the be all and end all of it for the coaching staff.
"We have tried to give the players equal playing time and they have done well to win the league.
"Now we have to try and get some of the lads through to the first team like we did with Tom Cairney.
"He won the league with us before making his way through to the first team.
"It's very difficult making the first team at any club and it's the nature of the beast that this could be the highlight for some of the players.
"For the ones who are here next season, it would be great for them to be playing at a Premier League club."
Russell is proud of his players who are doing their home city proud.
When the Tigers were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool in the quarter-final of the Youth Cup, Liverpool had a number of players from further afield.
Russell's side are mostly from Hull, and seeing them do well in the black and amber shirts has made him immensely proud.
"The majority of these players have come through locally," Russell said.
"They have a very strong bond after a few trips abroad playing tournaments. They went to the Northern Ireland Milk Cup where they played Chelsea.
"They also took part in the Foyle Cup, also in Northern Ireland, and have done well abroad.
"They lost to Celtic in the final of a tournament in Portugal and won a tournament in Denmark. When they came back with that trophy, you could see how much they had grown as players and people.
"Those trips away have been invaluable and helped the players bond well. Winning this league title is special for them. They showed character because it was a very close league all the way to the end. The 4-0 win was a great way to seal it."
