A 40 year-old woman has been found dead in a flat in the Avenues area of Hull.
Police were called after the discovery of the woman's body in a flat in Westbourne Avenue on Saturday night.
Scenes of crime officers were on the scene on Sunday as a major police investigation was launched.
A 39-year-old man has been taken into police custody in connection with the death of the woman, who has not yet been named.
Westbourne Avenue runs between Princes Avenue and Chanterlands Avenue and its mixture of private flats and terraced houses are popular with young families and students.
