Hull City manager Steve Bruce is hopeful Jack Hobbs can win his fitness battle to face Ipswich – just a week after fearing the defender would miss the rest of the season.
Hobbs twisted his ankle against Watford 11 days ago but a quicker-than-expected recovery saw him return to full training on Thursday.
Providing the defender can convince City's medical team of his fitness, he will replace the sidelined Alex Bruce (Achilles) on the left of a three-man defence.
With Paul McShane (ankle) ruled out for the season, Hobbs' availability is a must if the Tigers are to stick with a 3-5-2 shape. Liam Rosenior is standing by to come in at right-back if a 4-4-2 system is forced upon Bruce.
City will hope to welcome back Matty Fryatt on the bench. The 27-year-old has not kicked a ball in the Championship this season, but a full recovery from Achilles surgery should make him a welcome sight among the subs.
David Meyler's return from a two-game ban will need either Corry Evans, Stephen Quinn or Robert Koren to make way, providing Bruce goes with a front two of Jay Simpson and George Boyd. Gedo will play no part today, as he is rested because of a foot injury.
Mick McCarthy will be without influential loan forward David McGoldrick as he looks for the win that would all but secure Ipswich's Championship status.
McGoldrick, who has scored four goals for the Tractor Boys, saw his 93-day loan from Nottingham Forest expire after last week's win at Derby, making him ineligible for the final five games of the season.
Either Michael Chopra or Frank Nouble will take his place and partner Daryl Murphy in the Ipswich attack.
McCarthy is unlikely to otherwise tinker with his side, who chase their sixth game unbeaten this afternoon.
Anthony Wordsworth could be fit enough for a place on the bench after coming through a reserves fixture unscathed this week.
The 24-year-old, who joined from Colchester in January, has not played since damaging his back in only his third game for Ipswich.
Paul Taylor, a £1.5m signing from Peterborough in August, is hopeful of playing some part in the run-in after seven months out with a broken foot, but will not be risked against the Tigers.
On-loan City striker Aaron Mclean is ineligible but would have struggled for a place after making his most recent appearance on March 9.
