Half-back duo making Hull FC tick, says Gentle

PETER Gentle says consistency in the halves is making the difference for Hull FC as they bid for a third successive win at Salford today.

Hull will once again go with Richard Horne and Aaron Heremaia in the half-back roles as they look to move into the top eight of Super League for the first time this season.

The Black and Whites have used six different players in pivotal positions this season.

However, Horne and Heremaia have led the side to comfortable wins over Wakefield and Catalan, and Gentle believes his side now has a winning formula that suits everyone.

"Considering one is a hooker and the other a full-back, our halves are going very well for us," Gentle told the Mail.

"Having some consistency in the halves is making a difference and the spine of the team is coming together now.

"There were a lot of reasons we couldn't get on top of our game before, but the players are seeing the rewards now, things are falling in to place and we have found a style that suits us.

"We will continue with that. We are not working harder, we are just starting to see the rewards of the work we are doing."

Hull head to lowly Salford as favourites to make it six points from the six in April so far.

Gentle, however, says his concern is not with establishing a winning run, instead his focus remains solely on beating Salford.

"We are not concerned about winning or losing runs, but what we are conscious of is playing Salford," he said.

"They are coming off a game where they haven't performed on the pitch at Widnes, as a lot of teams haven't this season.

"We have disregarded that result as we know we are playing a side who have matched it with Bradford and beaten Huddersfield."
