ZAK Collins says he's hungry to be on the big stage more often after sampling a taste of what could be to come in the fifth appearance of his professional career.
With a list of well-known boxers in attendance and the television cameras present, Collins says the experience of boxing on his first major show was one to whet the appetite at the Sports Arena in Hull on Saturday.
Having boxed in front of his biggest crowd to date, the St Paul's welterweight is now hoping the experience of his win against Jozsef Garai will be the first of many memorable big-time boxing nights to come.
"The whole experience has made me more hungry for that bigger stage and now I want to be boxing in front of crowds like that again," Collins told the Mail.
"I am even more hungry to do better and I've been shown what is possible, and what could be out there for me.
"I want that and I know I'll have to work harder to get it, so that's what I intend to do."
Collins maintained his record of not losing a single round in his professional career with a 40-36 points victory against Garai.
Frustrated by an opponent intent on spoiling the fight and making life difficult for Collins while offering nothing himself, the 23-year-old was prevented from getting the breakthrough he was looking for.
Showing a superior work rate, and the better variation of shots, Collins offered enough glimpses of the sort of form that has made him a genuine hope for a title in 2013 and beyond.
However, the Goole-born fighter admits he was less than happy with his performance and will be demanding improvements of himself.
"I've not seen the fight back yet but I was not happy with my performance," Collins admitted when looking back on his fight.
"I felt something was wrong with me when I was in the ring and for whatever reason I couldn't get out of second gear.
"It was frustrating the life out of me and maybe having fought two weeks earlier had left my batteries a little flat.
"Whatever the reason, I wasn't happy that I couldn't get my movement going and get my combinations off.
"Still, a win is a win and I've still not lost a round so I can't be too upset with that."
