A BRIDLINGTON woman has been killed in a crash at Nunthorpe in Middlesbrough. Carol Ann Gill, 58, and 82-year-old Kenneth Wetherell from the Redcar area suffered fatal injuries after the cars they were travelling in collided on the A1043 Nunthorpe bypass at around 2.45pm on Friday, April 5. The collision involved a black Volvo C30 being driven by Mrs Gill, a red Jaguar XF Auto being driven by Mr Wetherell and a white Peugeot Partner van. A 90-year-old man who was travelling as a passenger in the Jaguar is currently in James Cook University Hospital in a 'poorly but stable' condition. The family of Carol Ann Gill, who was originally from the Middlesbrough area, said that she was on her way to visit family when the collision occurred. Mrs Gill was a former British Army Staff Sergeant, who was married to Roger Gill for 35 years. She moved to the Bridlington area in 1988 after 14 years service in the Women's Royal Army Corps. She then worked at Bridlington Hospital as a clerical assistant. Her family described her as "a devoted and loving wife, daughter and sister. She had a fantastic sense of humour together with an unspeakably kind and generous nature. They said in a prepared statement: "The incident has left a void in the hearts of those that know and love her and she will be sorely missed."
