HULL KR full-back Greg Eden believes Sunday's trip to face former club Huddersfield is a perfect test of where Rovers stand this season.
The Robins head into the contest having won five of their last seven matches after Sunday's 22-14 success over St Helens.
The Giants have been in impressive form all season under Paul Anderson, tightening up defensively from last year to sit second, a point behind Wigan.
And Eden feels how Rovers fare at the John Smith's Stadium will give a good indication as to where they stand in Super League.
"It should be a good test for us going back to my old club this weekend," Eden told the Mail.
"I want to get one over them and beat them, and we need to keep the same mind-set we had for the Saints game.
"Our defence was really good and we showed some great urgency in the way we scrambled back to make tackles.
"It's a good feeling to get back to winning ways after the Wigan defeat. There were some tough and tiring times but we dug in and got through it."
Rovers is Eden's third club in as many years but he says he has settled well at MS3 Craven Park.
The 23-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Robins – although an option was included allowing the Giants first option on him at that point.
But Eden told the Mail he was unaware such a clause had been included, and says the decision will be his.
"I was not aware of that option to return, so it was news to me when that was said. It is not anything to worry about, it is totally down to my decision in the end, so I couldn't care less what the agreement says.
"It is going well for me here and I am enjoying it."
Eden has had an up and down start at full-back, as five tries and nine assists have shown his attacking prowess, but 16 errors, the most at the club, have highlighted areas to work on.
During the last few games, Eden says Cory Paterson has taken time to discuss Eden's game with him, and the full-back says he has been grateful to his team-mate for passing on his experience and knowledge.
"My own form is gradually getting better each week," Eden said.
"There is still loads I can improve on in my game, I know that.
"Cory has been brilliant with me.
"He's an experienced player and he is there to give me the advice I need during the game. He tells me what to do and what to think about, which has been a great help.
"He has told me not to let my head go down when I make a mistake.
"He's one of a few players in the team that make things a lot easier for the rest of us with their knowledge and experience."
