NORTH HULL: A horse and cart drive due to take place next month has been cancelled.
Humberside Police and Hull City Council expressed concerns about the event after it attracted more than 300 people last year.
The drive was due to take place on Sunday, May 5, along a route through north Hull and ending up at the Endyke pub, in Endyke Lane.
But the decision was made by the organiser to cancel after a meeting with police and council officials.
Concerns were raised over the safety of those participating and spectating, along with the potential disruption to the local community.
The organiser has agreed to work with police and the council in planning an event for next year.
Jane Price, of Hull City Council said: "We received a number of safety concerns from local residents and businesses regarding this year's Horse Drive event.
"The safety of the community is a main priority for us and, by working with Humberside Police and the organiser, we can offer support and advice to make sure it is done in a planned way to minimise disruption for next year's revised event."
