LADIES added a splash of pink to Beverley Rugby Club on a day of celebration.
With the league title already in the bag, the Beaver Park team swept aside one of their nearest rivals, Wheatley Hills, 71 - 13 on Saturday.
The healthy crowd enjoying the sunshine included well over 100 women enjoying the annual Ladies' Day.
Arranged for the first time last year, the party doubled in size this time.
Ladies from across the town got dressed up to enjoy some pampering and a glass of bubbly on a day aimed squarely at boosting the club's community profile.
Local businesses sponsored raffle prizes.
There were treats from places such as Mediterranean restaurant Lucia and De Lacy spa and stalls selling jewellery, beauty creams and hats.
One of the organisers, Carol Innes, said: "It's been absolutely brilliant, it's really taken off and it's very busy."
Awarded the prize of Best Dressed Lady was Julia Marin from Highfield Road, Beverley.
Standing resplendent on the club balcony in an outfit set off by a pink wrap, she said: "I came last year and it's double the amount of people it was then.
"Everyone who was here last year has come again and there are many more, they have brought their friends ."
The inaugural event at the ground off Norwood did not enjoy good weather in 2012.
Not only that, it coincided with Beverley's relegation from National League Division Three North.
In Saturday's bright sunshine, and with promotion already secured from North East One, this weekend's Ladies' Day was an altogether different day.
Many of the ladies attending are connected to the club, some with sons playing junior rugby. For them, Ladies' Day is seen as a reward for making teas and washing shirts throughout the season.
Mrs Marin, 46, said: "I'm the registrar for the youth section.
"Rugby clubs are always associated with men and boys.
"This was about the mums. It's all the mums and the friends of the mums."
Last year's Ladies' Day raised £1,000 for club funds and was hailed a success.
Social committee members decided this year's event should raise money for the Pink Ribbon Campaign breast cancer charity.
Many in the crowd said having the event for charity had made them especially keen to attend.
Most pledged to be back next year to watch the team playing in National League Division Three North.
