GIVEN all that had gone before just three days earlier, there was something of a feeling that Hull's win at Wakefield may prove to be a pivotal moment in their season.
Cards on the table, I couldn't see them grinding out a win at the Wildcats. I didn't think they'd have the heart after their derby disaster.
But heart and determination is exactly what they showed to fight back from 10-0 down, when the Cats really were running wild.
It meant training at FC this week saw players have an extra 'spring in their step', according to coach Peter Gentle.
And despite all the concern about the Easter weekend taking too much out of players, Gentle revealed 17 players set personal bests in training, while stand-in skipper Danny Houghton said the squad was 'buzzing'.
You suspect day-to-day life at the club would have been somewhat different this week had that early deficit not been turned around.
"The off-loads came, the speed of line in defence came, our shape came, our kicking game came. Everything grew in confidence as the game went on," Gentle reflected.
That reflects a side in which confidence is key – and the coach admits self-belief remains fragile at present.
Back-to-back wins are yet to be achieved in Super League, and having discussed that in training this week, FC need a solid start against Catalan.
They certainly have to build on that display at Wakefield, which while restoring pride, was far from a victory to set the champagne corks popping.
Too many times this season it has been a case of one step forward, two steps back.
So to ensure that Wakefield win was a step forward, another victory is a must today.
With a trip to Salford a week later, before a break in Super League for the Challenge Cup, April could yet prove to be the month that Hull finally kick-start their campaign.
Importantly, Gentle will select a largely unchanged side as he seeks some consistency, with the only change being the likely return of Shannon McDonnell to replace 20-year-old Jamie Shaul.
Given Shaul was the spark for Hull's victory on Monday, it is harsh on a man who lifted the pressure on not only his team-mates, but also his coach last week.
