HULL City supporters are being advised to allow plenty of time to take their seats at their KC Stadium after some missed the start of this week's Watford match.
Club officials have insisted there is no problem with its ticketing system, despite long queues prior to kick-off on Tuesday.
Instead, club spokesman Ash Lord said matchday staff had reported a late surge of supporters, which meant some may have missed the start.
Now, the club – which is expecting attendances to increase as Steve Bruce's men continue their battle for promotion to the top flight – is urging fans to arrive a few minutes earlier.
Mr Lord said: "We had 20,043 fans enter the stadium on Tuesday – our third-highest attendance of the season.
"A lot of fans chose to arrive 15 minutes before kick-off.
"We have spoken to our ticket staff and the system worked fine but we have reports that a lot of fans were making their way across the footbridge 15 minutes or so before kick-off.
"It's going to take time for people to reach their seats, especially when the attendance is high."
It is thought the problem was caused by a combination of the match being a high-profile fixture and the fact it was held on a week night.
Many fans would not have had long to travel to the match and – in the case of those who are not season pass holders – collect their tickets and take their seats.
Fan Dave Batte also noted heavy traffic on the A63 prior to kick-off.
He wrote: "No delay getting into ground as a pass holder.
"But huge queues on A63 to exit for park and ride, which then delayed fans arriving at the ground."
Officials are hoping to avoid a repeat of the surge ahead of the next evening kick-off against Bristol City on Friday, April 19.
Mr Lord said: "We would advise fans to arrive a little earlier than they have been, to avoid disappointment."
Despite City losing 1-0 to their nearest Championship rivals Watford, the Tigers sit in second place, seven points behind Cardiff City.
