NON-LEAGUE rookie Calaum Jahraldo-Martin has been called a "breath of fresh air" after winning a surprise 18-month deal with Hull City.
The 19-year-old striker has been rewarded for a successful two-week trial at City with his first professional contract, leaving behind Ryman League Division One South side Dulwich Hamlet.
A remarkable rise sees Jahraldo-Martin join City's development squad and work under Stephen Clemence, the Tigers' reserve-team coach who was first alerted to the youngster's potential.
Manager Steve Bruce said: "He's a young kid, 19, who didn't even have a contract at Dulwich Hamlet.
"He was recommended to us through Stephen Clemence so we invited him up, and he's done enough to get a little pro contract.
"It's fantastic for him because he's been a little breath of fresh air. He's never had anything before, no team, so it's a great little tale."
Jahraldo-Martin was the only piece of business on a low-key final day in the emergency loan market, but Bruce also reflected on Seyi Olofinjana's loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.
"Seyi's been a good pro for me ever since I walked in the door but over the last three or four months he's not really played at all," he added.
"Hopefully, he can go there and get a contract either there or somewhere else."
