HULL's Samir Mouneimne extended his unbeaten start to his professional career with a seventh round stoppage of Ian Bailey.
Bailey was way behind on points during the penultimate round when his corner threw the towel in. Bailey showed guts to take the punishment Mouneimne dealt him to last as long as he did.
Mouneimne started strong using his jab to good effect against this diminuitive opponent. Mouneimne's uppercut was also working well in the first round as Bailey struggled to find a way into the bout.
Mouneimne knew Bailey couldn't get at him because of his inferior reach which allowed Mouneimne to control the fight in the second round by picking Bailey off at will. Bailey was showing signs of his battle with a badly bruised left eye in the third which wouldn't have unnoticed with Mouneimne who looked fresh ahead of the fourth round getting off his stool with plenty of time to spare. Bailey on the other hand used every second he and his seconds needed to prepare their man for more pain.
At the half-way stage of the bout, Mouneimne had won all four rounds as the speed of his punches kept Bailey on the back foot. Round five was Mouniemne's round too as he closed in on his 12th professional win. A slip in the sixth round did little to derail Mouneimne who showed class throughout the fight. Even after six rounds the Hull boxer was on his feet ready and waiting for Bailey to come out for the penultimate round. Eventually the toll of Mouneimne's work told on Bailey who was showing signs of fatigue when his corner called time on the fight. Mouneimne's record now stands at 12 wins and a draw from his 13 fights.
