The jury in the trial of Liam Woods has been discharged after failing to reach a verdict.
Mr Woods, 25, of Pickering Road, west Hull, has been on trial at Hull Crown Court accused of false imprisonment.
It was alleged he tied a man's hands and was part of a gang which held their victim in a flat at knifepoint.
The man was ordered to strip, force-fed potpourri and told he was going to be stabbed in a bid to extort money from him.
Mr Woods is due to be retried in July.
