HULL: More than 30 jobs have been created after the first branch of a discount store arrived in the city.
The new 99p Stores shop is set to open in Kingston Retail Park on Saturday, April 6.
Hussein Lalani, co-founder and co-owner of 99p Stores, said: "The public has become rightly fixated and hooked on value – and we are delighted to oblige.
"We conduct constant research and feedback and what has been coming across loud and clear on Humberside is that the public are fed up of having been 'ripped off' for years by the so-called Big Four supermarkets."
To celebrate its opening, the firm is staging a day of celebration with the highlight being the opportunity for one shopper to attempt a world record "supermarket sweep" trolley dash.
If the lucky dasher breaks the record of 267 items in 99 seconds, their haul, which they get to keep, will be doubled.
