Impotent Hull FC must find attacking edge at London

PETER Gentle says he's frustrated but unconcerned about the number of points Hull FC are scoring this season.

Hull have scored 144 points from their opening seven games, with 52 of those coming two weeks ago against Castleford.

Forced into switching his half-back combination for almost every game, Gentle says the disruption to the spine of his team, and games against four of the league's current top five, has made it tough.

The Hull coach says his team are addressing their attacking prowess, and he's confident they are starting to make noticeable improvements.

"I'm not concerned about the points we are scoring," said Gentle.

"There are a few reasons we are not firing. We've come up against some very good sides and they generally have very good defences.

"We are as frustrated as much as anyone at not being able to score points, but we are working hard on it and every week we are changing little bits and pieces. I'd like to think we are starting to get there.

"We showed last week we can compete with the top sides without being able to deliver the killer blow. We have a fair bit of work to do on our attack, but we are addressing that."

Hull's eagerness to work on their attack was not helped this week by Daniel Holdsworth missing training through illness.

Hull have struggled to create without Holdsworth this year and face the possibility of losing the Aussie again for the trip to London.

Gentle explained: "Daniel didn't train as he's off sick, he's carrying a bug, but hopefully he'll be fit for the weekend. We can't sit back and wait to see who will be right and who won't, we've planned for different scenarios."

DANNY Tickle and Aaron Heremaia return to the 19-man squad at the expense of Chris Green and Jay Pitts.
