A CITY charity is appealing for people to nominate unsung heroes in their community.
Environmental and Management Solutions Ltd (EMS) Yorkshire, based in Preston Road, east Hull, is running its Christmas Spirit awards for the third year.
It now wants people to send in details of who they want to see crowned this year's winner.
Andy Rees, of EMS Yorkshire, said: "The idea of these awards is to remember people whose hard work goes unnoticed and who are the community's unsung heroes.
"We have run the awards for the past two years and they have gone down very well."
The winner will be crowned at a ceremony at the Freedom Centre, in Preston Road, on December 21.
Prizes include £150 in cash as well as a hamper donated by the Co-op.
Mr Rees said: "This has always been really well received.
"Every time I speak to people about it and about potentially getting prizes, they all say it is a fantastic idea and that it really does help boost the community.
"These are local people being nominated for things they do in their local area.
"We want people to start nominating others who are doing fantastic work."
The winner last year was Rachel Appleyard, who set up the charity Freddie's Friends.
She began the charity with husband Mark after they lost their two-year-old son Freddie to a brain disease.
The charity helps sick and disabled children in East Yorkshire by buying special equipment and providing toys and trips.
EMS Yorkshire has been running in the city for more than ten years.
It provides neighbourhood management services for Southcoates east.
Its role is to liaise with other groups, including the antisocial behaviour team, wardens, social services and the council.
