IF Hull City can do their own business and pick up three points from their clash with Nottingham Forest this weekend it could prove a big step back towards the Premier League.
We are seeing a few sides stutter at the top of the Championship now – none more so than Cardiff who are looking in danger of losing their grip on the top spot.
I have said for some time this year that their big lead at the top has been a false one, as they have won many games by the odd goal, and I have never believed they are that far ahead of the chasing pack.
In fact, I believe the Tigers are the best side in the league on their day, and as yet, could well catch Malky Mackay's men.
They needed a late equaliser on Tuesday night to take a point from their clash with Leicester, a result which didn't really do either side a favour in the long run.
Cardiff have won only one of their last five, and head to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, which is certainly not a place you want to go when you are having a bit of a wobble.
I know a few Wednesday fans, and they are a real Jekyll and Hyde team, as you don't know what you are going to get from them.
They do have form for beating the sides at the top though, and having come to the KC and beaten City in January, they have recently turned over Crystal Palace and Leicester.
Elsewhere, I expect Watford to stay right on the heels of the Tigers and pick up a win at Barnsley, who despite improving recently as they fight for survival, are not of the same quality as Gianfranco Zola's men.
However, I can see Crystal Palace slipping up against a Brighton side who are strong at home, as although they beat City 4-2, Palace were lucky that night and have many young kids who I think will struggle to last the pace.
Finally, Leicester head to Derby, a team that likes to pass the ball around but won't upset Pearson's men in any way. However, I can see the sides sharing the spoils in that one, which will make a good weekend for City – if they beat Forest of course!
