HULL City's Ahmed Fathi says he is willing to remain patient to play his part in the Tigers' push for promotion to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old joined the Tigers on loan on the final day of the January transfer window, but has yet to make any real impact at the KC Stadium.

Whilst his Al Ahly team-mate Gedo has become an instant hit after bagging five goals in eight appearances, Fathi has been limited to just three fleeting appearances off the bench.

It has been a frustrating start for the international player, especially given he is regarded as one of the best right-backs in Egypt and Africa.

Thousands of football fans in Egypt are now following the fortunes of the Tigers due to the presence of Gedo, Fathi and Ahmed Elmohamady, and although there is a clamour for the defender to be handed his chance back home, the player himself says he is happy to bide his time.

He even revealed City had turned down an approach from a rival Championship club who had enquired as to whether his loan arrangement could be changed to allow him to play elsewhere.

Speaking of his struggle to win a starting place at City, Fahti told Egyptian journalists: "I am training very well, and I'm not angry for not participating. I got an offer from another team in Championship, but Steve Bruce refused.

"He told me not to rush and promised me a bigger role in the next matches."

Despite not having made his breakthrough at the Tigers, Fathi has great pedigree having become Egypt's youngest ever international at just 17 in 2001 against South Africa.

He was a member of the Egyptian youth team that won the African Youth Cup in 2003 and played a big role in the Egypt squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
