PETER Gentle told his players to enjoy the fruits of success following their 52-0 demolition of Castleford after admitting his side had endured an emotional week.
Hull put their poor display at Widnes and the concern over the Brett Seymour situation to one side in a nine-try victory against the Tigers.
The Black and Whites were able to celebrate a return to winning ways with a first clean sheet in Super League for nine years, their first-ever at the KC.
Praising his players for their response to criticism which Gentle admitted was fair, the coach says he was confident of victory no matter what team he put out.
"This game couldn't come around soon enough for us," said Gentle.
"When you put a performance in like we did last weekend, you have to respond. I was very confident we would get a result, although nowhere near a score like that.
"It didn't matter what 17 we put out, there was always going to be a performance. I said during the week we were a lot tighter than we were a week ago and you could see it was a real team performance.
"We took a fair bit of flak and we know we are better than what we served up last week and you could see that this week.
"The players have worked their backsides off this last week and it is all about enjoying it. We will enjoy this victory and then switch our focus to Huddersfield. I want the players to enjoy this and enjoy it as a group."
Hull's victory was capped by a hat-trick apiece for Tom Lineham and Joe Arundel, with Danny Houghton, Josh Bowden and Richard Horne also chipping in.
Leading 22-0 at half-time, Hull cantered to victory in the second half but saw the result marred by a suspected broken rib for hooker Aaron Heremaia as well as a sending off for Danny Tickle for his part in a brawl.
"I think when the match review panel have a look at it there will be quite a few people nervous and not all from our side," explained Gentle when asked about the incident.
"I am very proud of the way the players stuck together. We are tight as a group and it has been a very emotional time for us, so it was good to see them come out fighting, pardon the pun."
While Heremaia and Tickle could miss next week's trip to Huddersfield, Hull were boosted by the return of stand-off Daniel Holdsworth from injury.
Taken off with 20 minutes remaining because the game was won, Holdsworth showed what his side has missed by bringing direction and leadership, a fact emphasised by Gentle.
"Daniel is our conductor, he tells us to get here, go there and he gets us moving," added the Aussie coach.
"You can see in the last fortnight how much we have really missed him. We took him off early to make sure he was okay and give him a rest."
