HULL KR centre Liam Salter believes Travis Burns can help take his game to the next level now the Aussie is finally part of the Robins side.
Burns made his Rovers debut last week after serving a 12-match ban and helped his side to a 26-12 win over Warrington at MS3 Craven Park.
His inclusion in Craig Sandercock's side meant the pressure was taken off skipper Michael Dobson, who had virtually controlled Rovers' attack on both sides of the pitch previously.
Burns took care of business on the right hand side, leaving Dobson to control his favoured left, and Salter is delighted to have Burns on his side.
"Hopefully, Travis can help open up a few more gaps for me to score a few more tries," Salter told the Mail.
"He can take my game to the next level because he will always be pushing me to do stuff both in training and in matches.
"He is a good attacking player and he is smart with the ball.
"Travis has brought a lot of determination to the team, and to my side of the pitch in particular."
Salter, now in his second season as a Rovers regular, continues to impress with every appearance and is hoping Burns will also help improve his defensive skills.
"Travis made my job a lot easier last week by always talking to me, especially in defence," Salter added.
"It's great to have someone talking to you all the way through the game.
"You may not realise you have done something good or bad in a game, so you need to be told either way.
"It's nothing personal if you get sprayed by Travis or anybody else.
"That can only benefit the team and me in all areas of my game. He tells me what he wants me to do in the warm-up before the game which has helped me a lot."
Salter believes he will only get better playing alongside Burns, and says he is trying to avoid 'second season syndrome', in which many players who have broken through struggle to meet high expectations.
"Last season I didn't want to make any mistakes," he said.
"This season is the same, but I also want to show the supporters what I can do. I feel more settled in the squad and confident in my own ability.
"I've been okay this season but I want to keep improving each week. We have had a few injuries and I have been given my chance in the side and I have to make sure I take it."
CRAIG Hall is named in the 19-man squad after missing the 26-12 win over Warrington with an ankle injury. Prop Adam Walker is back after his one-match ban and James Green is included. They replace Josh Hodgson who serves a one-match ban, Same Latus and Dale Ferguson, who has returned to Huddersfield following his one-month loan.
