ALEX Brown hopes to keep his place in Hull KR's starting line-up after enjoying a try-scoring debut to remember.
Handed his first competitive start for the Robins in the 26-12 home win over Warrington, Brown crowned a decent display by popping up with a late score to confirm KR's second win of the season.
With Omari Caro ruled out for at least a few weeks because of a shoulder injury, the 25-year-old is now determined to cement his place in coach Craig Sandercock's plans.
"Hopefully, I will have done enough to keep my place in the team for this weekend," said Brown ahead of Saturday's trip to London.
"I think everyone dreams of scoring a try on their debut and I'm really pleased with that.
"It was a real team effort against Warrington, but it's always good to mark your debut with a win and a try.
"I haven't played a full game since August so it was a shock to the system.
"I was blowing in parts of the game but everyone got me through it and it was enjoyable."
The debutant more than held his own against Warrington winger Chris Riley, who came into the game with three tries already this season.
Brown made 145 metres from his 18 carries, including a lengthy break in front of the east stand in the second half.
Not bad for someone who only found out on Saturday morning he would be named in Sandercock's side to face last season's beaten Grand Finalists.
"I had an inkling during the week that I might be playing," explained Brown.
"I trained hard all week and it was between me and Sam Latus for the spot on the right wing.
"Craig told me on Saturday morning I had trained well and he wanted to give me a shot and to take the opportunity with both hands.
"I tried to keep myself busy on Saturday to take my mind off things, so I went back home to see my family because it was my sister's birthday.
"I had a bout of nerves when I woke up on Sunday morning but I was happy with my overall contribution.
"Craig just told me to run hard and tackle hard and that's what I tried to do."
