HULL KR vice-captain Kris Welham has experienced plenty of pain over the past nine months.
A broken ankle sidelined him for the best part of seven months before a broken bone above his middle finger forced him out of the first two games of the season.
But neither compared to the pain he felt last Sunday, when sat in the away changing room after the final hooter at the Salford City Stadium.
Like the rest of the rugby league world, he was still trying to figure out how Rovers had blown a 20-point lead to lose 38-34.
And all against a poor side that had lost its last ten Super League matches.
It made for a very uncomfortable journey back along the M62 for Welham, his team-mates and the KR coaches.
And it's not a feeling the former Myton Warriors amateur wants to experience again.
"I felt hurt and it was very tough to take," Welham told the Mail.
"It's a feeling I don't want to experience again.
"We've not had the best start to the season and nobody likes losing, so hopefully that won't happen again."
Perhaps such a dramatic collapse when ahead won't be allowed to happen again, but looking ahead to tomorrow's clash with Warrington at MS3 Craven Park, the danger of being embarrassed once more is very real.
The Wolves are in red-hot form, and anything other than the Robins' best display of the season so far could make it a long afternoon for KR and their passionate supporters again.
Turning his thoughts back to last Sunday again, Welham knows the loss has upped the pressure on coach Craig Sandercock, whose position is to be reviewed by the board at the end of the month.
But the vice-captain says people should look no further than the side taking to the field when pointing the finger.
He said: "The players are to blame, who else can you blame?
"We need to finish games off and if we don't against Warrington they will run over us.
"We are a good side, we know we are a good side, but we also know we have been under-performing.
"Last week is gone and we don't want to think about it, the result says it all. It's past us now and we want to move on and get a few wins on the board.
"We owe it to ourselves to put things right after last week and this is the perfect game to do it.
"They are second in the league and we are at home.
"We want to be a top side and this will be a great way of showing that we can be."
Welham may insist Rovers can win, but the bookies beg to differ.
They have given Sandercock's men a 14-point start, as they expect Tony Smith's side to continue their fine opening to the season.
It's hard to argue when last week's defeat was Rovers' 12th from their last 14 games, dating back to June.
But delve a little further into the record books and you'll find Rovers had previously won four in a row.
Included in that good spell last season was a 23-22 home win over the Wolves.
"We beat them last year and we can do so again tomorrow," Welham said.
"They have strike players all over the park that can punish you so we have to do what we are good at and hopefully our defence will be a lot better than it has been.
"A win will get the ball rolling after a poor start, and this is the perfect time.
"Warrington aren't too bad away from home, to score five tries against Hull at the KC Stadium and win 24-10 shows that.
"We don't even know who will be playing for them because they have so many class players.
"They can afford to send players like Paul Wood and Tyrone McCarthy to Swinton on dual registration.
"All in all it doesn't get much harder, but our fans will stick with us and cheer us home.
"If everyone in our side does their job in the team, then we'll go a long way to getting the result."
