A MAN has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was killed on Saltshouse Road in east Hull earlier this year.
Kerry Ockelton, 41, was with her teenage daughter Jess when the pair were hit while walking home in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, July 1.
Michael Radford, 24, of Sykes Street in Hull was arrested on the day of the crash and released on police bail as further enquiries were carried out.
Mr Radford answered bail yesterday and appeared at Hull Crown Court.
He was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle above the legal limit, failure to stop at a road accident and failure to report a road accident.
Kerry died at the scene and her daughter spent time in hospital after suffering a number of injuries.
Kerry's family told the Mail at the time: "We are all heartbroken by the tragic loss of Kerry.
"She will be remembered always as a devoted mother to Sam and Jessica and a beautiful, caring daughter to Mick and Brenda, as well as a loving and loved sister.
"Kerry was a fun-loving, outgoing person with everything to live for but who has been tragically taken from us too soon."
Jessica later paid tribute to her mum after being comforted at her hospital bed.
She said: "To the sweetest, strongest, loving and warm-hearted person I have known who was full of life and had a heart of gold. Not a selfish bone in her body.
"Not only was she my mum, she was my best friend. No mother could have given her children what she gave us."
Mr Radford has been remanded in custody to appear in court again on Wednesday, December 19.
