A WOMAN who failed to take a baby for immediate hospital treatment after her boyfriend dunked the child's face in scalding water has had her sentence almost halved on appeal.
Kelly Marie Horner, 24, was supposed to be caring for the four-month-old girl in 2011 when her boyfriend, John Ward, plunged the infant's face into hot bath water during a 48-hour drink and drugs binge.
The baby was also found to have two broken legs and bite marks inflicted by Ward, who was jailed for eight-and-a-half years for causing grievous bodily harm.
Horner, of Cherry Treet Lane, Beverley, failed to take the baby to hospital for five hours and was jailed for 21 months after pleading guilty to child neglect.
But today, judges at London's Appeal Court cut her sentence to 12 months, of which she will serve half.
