Hull KR's Michael Dobson issues rallying call after three defeats in four

HULL KR captain Michael Dobson has called on the Robins to stick together and battle through their poor start to the new season.

The Robins have lost three of their opening four games, the latest coming after a dramatic collapse at strugglers Salford, when KR lost a 34-14 lead to lose 38-34.

Dobson admits it has been a poor start to the season, and has called for 'honesty' from players when they assess where they are going wrong as a team, and as individuals.

But he remains confident they can turn things around, especially as they have Super League's best attack so far.

"It's still early in the season and I'm definitely disappointed, but there are signs that when we do put things right we are a hard side to stop," Dobson told the Mail.

"There were some pretty low times last season, but luckily we have plenty of time to put things right.

"As a group we have to stay together and make sure we are very honest in our video sessions.

"If everyone concentrates on their own job and doing their own job right, we'll be very hard to beat as we have some very good players in this team."

Rovers troubles get no easier with a clash with in-form Warrington Wolves ahead this Sunday at MS3 Craven Park.

The Wolves have won three and drawn one to sit second in Super League, and Dobson admits massive improvements are needed to even be in the contest.

"If we serve up what we served up at Salford, it's going to be a long day," said the Aussie captain.

"I'm pretty confident we won't play like we did on Sunday though.

"It's a case of players going away from the gameplan. We need to stick to our roles in the team, complete our sets and chase our kicks well."

Looking back on last Sunday's loss, Dobson feels he and his team-mates were to blame for feeling they had the game won at 34-14.

And he says they learned their lesson in the harshest manner as the City Reds claimed their first win of the season.

"Obviously we went away from the game-plan because we thought the game was won," he said.

"That's the only thing I can put it down to. "We shouldn't be losing games with a lead like that, we should be closing games out.

"Instead we wanted to throw the ball around and that's what happens.

"We let them back into the game and they got the win.

"It's very disappointing to let a lead slip like that.

"We played well in patches but we gave away silly penalties and dropped easy balls.

"It doesn't matter who you play, you can't do that.

"We need to do it for 80 minutes and not 25 or 30 minutes."
