PLACARD-waving parents are protesting outside East Riding Council's offices this morning against plans to shut their school.
Parents of pupils at Dunswell Primary School took their protest to the steps of County Hall in Beverley, where the council's cabinet was meeting today.
Mother-of-five Julie Reed said: "We are here today because we want to raise awareness for the cause.
"We want to get everyone involved in this fight, it's not just for the school, it's for the community as a whole."
The battling parents will march through Beverley on Saturday to hand in their protest petition to County Hall.
Mrs Reed, who has three children at Dunswell Primary – Georgina, seven, Louie, nine and William 10 – said pupils will join the protest march through Beverley, when they will sing the school song Dunswell Smile.
East Riding Council is one of the worst-funded schools in the country and is looking at how many schools it can justify maintaining.
Dunswell Primary is financially viable but 75 per cent of its 88 pupils come from outside the catchment area, including Hull.
The school could be shut in July next year.
The authority is also facing protests from parents over proposals to close primary schools at Langtoft and Gembling this summer.
