A 23-year-old man was punched in the face while waiting for a taxi after a night out in Hull city centre.
He was with his girlfriend on Alfred Gelder Street on Sunday, between 2am and 3am, when a group of 10 men began shouting abuse.
One of the gang punched the victim on the left side of his face. Another hit him on the right side of his face.
He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.
His attackers are described as white with local accents. One was wearing a bright blue jumper and blue jeans. He had short spiky hair and had a tattoo on the left side of his neck.
The second man had black, gelled hair. He was wearing a black jumper, dark jeans and had a gold chain around his neck.
