THEY say fortune favours the brave, and that's certainly the case with Steve Bruce and Hull City.
After missing out on a couple of his main targets in the January transfer window, he was brave enough to take a risk and put his faith in Gedo.
Now, the Egyptian looks to be the final piece in City's jigsaw, and finally, Bruce appears to have found his goalscorer.
If Gedo was unknown a fortnight ago, everyone in the Championship knows exactly who he is now after scoring three crucial goals in his last three games.
And it wouldn't surprise me if there were a few Premier League sides paying close attention to him too.
If things continue the way they are, he will be a Premier League footballer next season anyway, as he looks like firing the Tigers to promotion at present.
It must be hugely pleasing for Bruce, and for City's owners Assem and Ehab Allam.
Bruce was desperate to bring in a striker in January but missed out on the Campbell kids – firstly Fraizer and then of course DJ.
He went with Gedo – with the Allams' links making it possible – and his performances so far would suggest City have saved themselves a lot of money.
Both the Campbells would have been far more costly.
And it was typical of football that DJ Campbell, the man who left City in the lurch after getting a better deal at Blackburn, was brought straight back to the KC on Tuesday night.
Campbell started on the bench and struggled to make an impact when he was introduced, much to the delight of the City fans.
I'm sure given Gedo's impressive start, they are now glad at how events unfolded in the final few days of that transfer window.
As far as Gedo is concerned, I think there is plenty more to come from him, which makes it very exciting.
Steve Bruce claims he isn't fully fit yet, so imagine how good he will be when he is, as from what we have seen already, he is the sort of striker every team needs.
He's brave, holds the ball up very well and chases back when attacks break down.
He has done well to settle in so quickly, and has done so more than his fellow Egyptian Ahmed Fathi.
However, I always expected that to be the case, as adapting to a new club is not as hard for strikers, as they play a position where the role is similar at every club.
A striker can point to where he wants the ball played and hopefully that's where he gets it.
Defenders and midfielders have a bit more work to do to adapt and fit into specific systems.
Going forward, I think Gedo can continue banging in the goals, as he seems to be one of those strikers who pops up in the right place at the right time. He is what we have been saying City needed all season long.
As for another striker, what must Nick Proschwitz be thinking at the Tigers?
He has taken all season to score two league goals only to see Gedo score three in three games.
Bruce went with Robert Koren up front alongside Gedo, and I'd stick with that for the trip to Bolton on Saturday.
Bruce is paid to make big decisions and so far almost every decision he has made this season has come off.
He is a different class in everything he does, and besides being a good manager, he is a gentleman who is getting the best out of his players. They clearly enjoy playing for him.
Looking back at the summer now, what a great appointment he was.
It seems a lifetime ago when people were up in arms with the way Nick Barmby was sacked.
That was the Allams' gamble, but they also deserve luck now for the decisions they have made.
