HULL City midfielder David Meyler is aiming to recapture his teenage prolific streak and contribute his share of the goals needed to maintain the Tigers' automatic promotion drive.
Since breaking his duck in senior football duck during the 2-1 win at Watford in December, Meyler has become a surprise source of goals for City manager Steve Bruce.
Four from 15 starts means only Sone Aluko, Robert Koren and Jay Simpson have weighed in with more goals for the Tigers this season.
The Irishman's haul could have been even greater with fortune on his side during the wins over Charlton and Blackburn this week, and Meyler admits his adventurous midfield role has unearthed a threat not showcased since his junior football days.
"There's a little story to this," said Meyler, a £1.5m signing from Sunderland in January.
"When I used to play back at home I would score 20 or 25 goals a season but when I came to Sunderland I got put in a holding midfielder role which stopped me from getting forward as much.
"I've been given a licence here to get forward a lot more. The gaffer knows exactly what type of player I am now having worked together for the last few years.
"I love to get up and down from box to box and make sure I get on the end of chances."
Meyler has been a driving force in midfield during a perfect week at the KC, with the 23-year-old called "immense" by Bruce in wins over Derby, Charlton and Blackburn.
The Tigers will look to continue their winning streak when they head to Bolton tomorrow and Meyler knows the supply-line of countryman Robbie Brady will guarantee him chances.
"I'm doing all right," he said. "I probably should be scoring more. The manager's told me, the assistant manager's told me, my father's told me and my best pals have told me so I'm getting the message.
"I'm fairly annoyed I've not scored more but it's four goals in 15 games so that's not too bad for a midfielder considering how much stick I get from the gaffer for not scoring.
"We've spoken about it and worked on it in training, and I know what I have to do.
"When the ball is down the left hand side with Robbie Brady bombing down, it can be hard just keeping up with him!
"But it's vital that I'm in that box and getting on the end of crosses. There's goals to be had if I can get in there and take my chances."
