HULL FC owner Adam Pearson says he is happy with the squad built for the coming season – and admits no further additions are expected.

The Black and Whites have taken time to reflect on their position following their recent high-profile pursuit for another half-back.

It left many fans believing significant money would be left on the salary cap to add to their 32-man squad before the new year.

However, the Mail understands deals for the likes of Scott Prince and Rangi Chase always included plans to reduce costs elsewhere in the squad.

And having missed out on their top targets, coach Peter Gentle seems certain to put his faith in his current half-back options, and the rest of his side, to lead the club into the top four.

"We've got an expensive squad that I think has the right balance between youth and experience," Pearson told the Mail, admitting more signings were unlikely.

"We are quietly confident, if we graft and work harder than anyone else in the league we should be near the top at the end of the season."

Hull have made seven new signings for next season, including the high-profile acquisitions of England star Gareth Ellis and former Hull KR duo Shannon McDonnell and Ben Galea.

The club has also promoted four junior players from their academy to the first team to complete a 32-man squad.
