HULL East MP Karl Turner has waded into the row over Hull City travel restrictions, claiming fans are bearing the brunt of budget cuts. The MP says West Yorkshire Police has gone too far, forcing Hull City fans to use official coaches and releasing just 1,500 tickets for the Championship clash against Huddersfield next month. Mr Turner said: "If they can prove to me that the reason for this is because they have suggestions a large number of hooligans are travelling to the game then fine. "But I think it is the savage cuts to the police force and the fact they don't have enough money left to patrol the streets. "My concern is people are suffering because of cuts to the police." Mr Turner has contacted West Yorkshire Police, their Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson and the policing minister Damian Green and is awaiting a response. He said: "This is very offensive for Hull City fans. It insinuates Hull City fans are hooligans. "It is lose, lose, as restricting the number of Hull City fans means Huddersfield Town and the businesses in Huddersfield will suffer."
