Shafy Mosaad is a sports journalist from Cairo, Egypt. Here he reports for the Mail on the huge impact the arrival of Egyptian stars Gedo and Fathi at Hull City has had back in their homeland ...
Since our international stars Mohamed Nagy Gedo and Ahmed Fathi arrived at Hull City, the Egyptian media haven't stopped talking about them, especially after Gedo's shining start in his first two matches, and the strong emergence of Fathi in just a few minutes with the Tigers.
Many fans in Egypt have re-discovered their stars in Hull, not only Gedo and Fathi, but Ahmad Mohammadi.
It's as if they are playing football for the first time, the nature of the Championship being so different from the Egyptian or Arab leagues.
Gedo's two goals in his first two games did not pass unnoticed in Egypt's media, where the view of many experts is that this marks a new beginning for Egypt's top scorer.
But others fear that he could face the fate of his predecessor in England, Ahmed Hossam Mido and Amr Zaki. This duo frustrated fans in England and Egypt after their extraordinary arrival and departure from English football.
In spite of this, the Egyptian fans are more optimistic that the fate of Gedo in England will be better than Mido at Spurs and Middlesbrough, and Zaki at Wigan and Hull. His character is more balanced, his personality more calm. And of course, he has a strong ability to get goals even with just a few minutes on the pitch.
There is no doubt Hull City's matches and Tigers news have attracted huge numbers of the Pharaohs' fans , even with the return of the Egyptian league again, which looks very weak and humble in comparison.
The game between Hull City and Charlton became a historic event in Egypt and England, not just because Gedo scored the winning goal but because of the presence of three Egyptian players in one team on the pitch for the first time.
Bob Bradley, the American coach of the Egyptian national team is very happy that a large number of Egyptians now play abroad. And he believes that the presence of the trio with Hull City will contribute to the Pharaohs qualification for the World Cup in Brazil final 2014
But here in Egypt we are a restless lot. There are already questions that worry Egyptian fans; How long will Gedo continue to shine? Will he adapt in European life? Will Steve Bruce continue to keep Fathi as a substitute throughout the loan period? And will Bruce be happy to play all three Egyptians at the same time?
For now, there are thousands of fans in Egypt waiting eagerly for the answers and following every movement of the Tigers and their three Pharaohs.
