DAVID Meyler has hailed the instant impact of Gedo and believes Hull City's new attacking sensation could be the difference in the Tigers' Championship promotion bid.
Gedo continued his impressive start to life at the KC Stadium when he capped a bright full debut with the only goal of the game to sink Charlton Athletic 1-0 on Saturday.
The Egyptian's heroics came just four days after he opened his account against Derby County last week and ensured City retained their encouraging grip on second spot.
For a City side hindered by its attacking flaws this season, Meyler says the contributions of the deadline-day signing have provided a huge lift.
"Gedo's been fantastic since he's arrived, brilliant," said Meyler.
"I spoke with Ahmed Elmohamady before he arrived and he said he was very good. You can see how hard he works and he holds the ball up very well too.
"Most importantly for a striker, he's popped up twice with goals in the last two games. They were two vital goals in our season and what more could you want from your striker?
"I'll just hope he can keep scoring goals and we can keep on winning games. We've got a great opportunity."
Gedo's 33rd-minute goal proved decisive in a tense encounter as City registered back-to-back wins for the first time since Christmas to retain growing momentum.
Six points from two games at the KC Stadium has set the Tigers' promotion bid back on track after a run of one win in five, and Meyler wants to complete the hat-trick when Blackburn Rovers visit East Yorkshire tomorrow night.
"We sat down with the manager last week and spoke about how important these home games were. It was crucial for us to try and win all three," he said.
"That's two big wins and with a tough game coming up against Blackburn on Tuesday we've got to make sure we beat them too.
"The way this league is, you need to make sure you're right up for it. We were up for it against Derby and again against Charlton, so we need to make sure this little run keeps going.
"If we focus on ourselves then there's not a team in this league that can live with us when we're firing on all cylinders."
The significance of City's weekend win was huge as league-leaders Cardiff, third-placed Watford and fourth-placed Crystal Palace all secured valuable wins on Saturday.
A three-point cushion stands between Steve Bruce's men and the chasing pack, while Leicester, inactive again on FA Cup weekend, are now six points adrift with two games in hand.
Meyler added: "It's all about three points and moving on. We can't be getting preoccupied with promotion now, we've got to make sure that every game that we're bang at it and pick up as many points as we possibly can between now and the end of the season.
"It's nice to have the points in the bank. We're six points ahead of Leicester and although they've got two games on us, it's never nice to have to chase.
"They'll be confident of closing the gap I'm sure but we'll just look at Tuesday and beating Blackburn."
